A version that offers electronic thermal motor protection, achieved through integrated current transformers, which not only enable motor overload protection but also allow the management of current-limit starting ramps that automatically adapt to load variations. The ADXNP soft starter can also be equipped with an optional RS485 communication module (CX04) for integration within a remote control or supervisory system.

It features both front potentiometers for setting the simplest basic parameters (initial voltage step, acceleration ramp, and deceleration ramp) and NFC connectivity for programming via the Lovato App of advanced parameters, such as motor current rating, thermal protection class, protection thresholds, passwords, communication parameters, function of built-in relay outputs, and alarm properties. The front optical port also enables programming, data download and diagnostics from PC and App via optional USB (CX01) and Wi-Fi (CX02) connection devices.

Compact size: ADXN soft starters feature 2-step control and are made in an extremely compact package, only 45mm wide for the entire range up to 45° (divided over 2 mechanical sizes that differ in height and depth).

They are extremely simple and quick to set up. Motor control requires only the setting of a few intuitive parameters, such as ramp times and initial voltage, which depending on the version can be configured via front potentiometers or via smartphone with NFC technology and Lovato App, available free of charge for iOS and Android devices.

Wide line voltage range: They feature a wide line voltage range, extending from 208 to 600VAC nominal; this makes them usable in any market, including North America, without the need to manage different codes depending on the voltage in the system.

Auxiliary supply: All three ADXN versions are available in dual variants with auxiliary supply voltage: 24VAC/DC, a voltage typically found in automation panels, or 100-240VAC, typically found in pump control panels, for example.

They integrate numerous protection functions for the motor and soft starter, for example:

  • starter thermal protection realized by integrated temperature probe on the heat sink
  • line voltage checks: voltage and frequency out of limits, phase failure, wrong phase sequence
  • electronic motor thermal protection (ADXNP version only).

Protection thresholds and related tripping times are configurable on versions with NFC connectivity (ADXNF and ADXNP) and individually enabled/disabled.

The ADXNF and ADXNP versions have NFC connectivity integrated on the front, a technologically advanced solution that allows parameters to be changed quickly, easily and intuitively directly from one's smartphone with the Lovato App.

This feature allows parameters to be set digitally in a clear and precise manner by taking advantage of the App's user-friendly graphical interface. It is also possible to save programming on the smartphone to be copied to other soft starters of the same model extremely quickly, even when the device is disconnected, an ideal solution for those who do serial programming of numerous pieces of equipment.

In addition to speed, accuracy and ease of configuration, the NFC-equipped versions enable security requirements to be met by the ability to set a password via smartphone to protect settings from modification by unauthorized personnel.

The advanced ADXNP version integrates amperometric transformers to measure the current circulating in the phases that power the motor. With this information, the soft starter is able to thermally protect the motor by commanding it to stop when the current exceeds the rated value for an extended time, without the need to install an external thermal relay, saving cost, space, wiring and installation time. The thermal protection is electronic, and a dual class of protection can be configured: one for starting and one for running, with a choice of class 10, 15, 20 and 25 depending on the level of heaviness of the application. The motor current rating, thermal protection classes and related alarm properties are configurable via smartphone via LOVATO App or Lovato App.

The advanced ADXNP version is equipped with a front optical port for the connection of optional USB (CX01) or Wi-Fi (CX02) communication devices, through which the soft starter can be connected to a PC with software , smartphones and tablets with Lovato Appto carry out programming, diagnostics and data downloading operations easily and safely, operating directly from the front of the device and without the need to disconnect the power supply to the electrical panel.

Integrated Bypass: All versions incorporate a bypass relay that automatically disables the thyristor circuit when the motor reaches steady state, allowing the reduction of heat and power dissipation, resulting in significant energy savings. The presence of the bypass also increases the reliability of the soft starter by protecting the internal thyristors from any unwanted phenomena on the line while the motor is running, such as short circuits, overloads, or overvoltages.

2 built-in relay outputs: ADXN soft starters integrate 2 relay outputs with normally open contact as standard, which can be used for signaling functions or control of external devices. The function of the outputs is fixed on the basic ADXNB versions, while it is programmable via NFC on the ADXNF and ADXNP versions, optionally line contactor command (run), end of ramp (TOR) signaling, alarm and maximum torque.

Password: Access to ADXNF and ADXNP soft starter parameters can be locked by a password that can be set with Lovato App to protect settings from tampering by unauthorized personnel.

Front LEDs: All versions have 3 LEDs on the front for signaling the presence of auxiliary power, run status and alarm. The alarm LED flashes in case of an active alarm, and the number of flashes identifies the type of alarm in progress.

Mounting: ADXN soft starters can be screw mounted or DIN 35mm rail mounted (IEC/EN/BS 60715). Screw mounting is achieved by 4 holes on the base of the enclosure, while DIN rail mounting has a rubber insert that prevents the soft starter from sliding on the rail.
