PLEASE NOTE. Lacqua entering the softener must have chemical-physical and microbiological characteristics within the limits of L.D. 31/01 and subsequent updates. Lacqua after treatment undergoes a reduction in the content of hardness salts (proportional to the setting of the mixing valve) and a slight increase in the value of sodium.



In particular, softeners of the BIO BS series are used in numerous civil and industrial applications to protect against lime scale in the following circuits and systems:

  • Domestic hot and cold drinking water distribution circuits;
  • Boilers for hot water heating systems and related circuits;
  • Other systems in industrial sectors where softened water is required for specific processes.


Equipment characteristics:

  • Softeners are drinking water treatment equipment based on the principle of ion exchange resins by which calcium and magnesium ions (ions of the constituent salts of hardness) are replaced with equivalent sodium ions.
  • These are devices equipped with electronics that can perform proportional regeneration on a statistical volumetric basis and reduce regenerant consumption by up to 50 percent.
  • The electronics constantly updates a bi-weekly average of the daily water consumption required by the user and starts regeneration at the set time on the day determined by the electronics, depending on the statistical average water consumption on different days of the week, exchange capacity and water hardness set. In case the treated water reserve is not sufficient to meet the calculated statistical demand for the following day, the equipment automatically starts regeneration at the set time. On the other hand, in the event that the treated water reserve is still sufficient for the following day, the equipment does not start regeneration while waiting for the statistically processed signal to carry out regeneration. This is for the purpose of always ensuring the availability of softened water to the user. The regeneration start time is settable and is generally set at night times when the demand for water to the utility is minimal. The softener at the time of regeneration calculates how much regenerant it needs to draw in to restore the cyclic capacity of the device to one hundred percent again and adjusts the regenerant consumption to the actual exhaustion of the resin bed allowing significant savings in operating costs


The softeners are equipped as standard with an adjustable mixing valve, built into the header, for obtaining the desired residual hardness at the outlet of the device and are equipped with a self-disinfection system at each regeneration.
