Once the PD stops working and responding, the GS-4210-8P2S will resume PoE port power and bring the PD back to operation. It will greatly improve the reliability of the network through the PoE port by restoring the PD's power source, thus reducing the administrator's management burden.
Under the worldwide trend of energy saving and contributing to environmental protection, the GS-4210-8P2S can effectively control the power supply in addition to its ability to provide high power. The " PoE Scheduling " function enables or disables PoE power for each PoE port during specified time intervals and is a powerful function to help SMEs or enterprises save energy and money. The GS-4210-8P2S offers a comprehensive Layer 2 to Layer 4 access control list (ACL) to strengthen security all the way to the periphery. It can be used to restrict network access by denying packets based on source and destination IP address, TCP/UDP ports, or typical network applications defined. Its protection mechanism also includes 802.1x port-based user authentication. With the private VLAN feature, communication between edge ports can be prevented to ensure user privacy. Network administrators can now build highly secure enterprise networks with much less time and effort than before.
The two mini-GBIC ports built into the GS-4210-8P2S support SFP auto-detection and dual speed as they are equipped with 100BASE-FX and 1000BASE-SX/LX SFP (small form-factor pluggable) fiber transceivers for uplink to the backbone switch and long-distance monitoring center. The distance can be extended from 550 meters to 2 kilometers (multi-mode fiber) and to 10/20/40/60/80/120 kilometers (single-mode fiber or WDM fiber). They are suitable for applications within data centers and enterprise deployments.
The GS-4210-8P2S features a non-blocking design and SFP fiber optic modules, providing the network infrastructure with greater flexibility but lower cost. Providing eight 10/100/1000BASE-T 802.3at PoE+ ports and two Gigabit SFP ports, the GS-4210-8P2S can easily create video surveillance on the NVR system for SOHO/SMB.
