Designed for medium to small network environments, its 19-inch (1U) rack mount supports allow seamless integration with popular mounting systems on the market. The Edimax GS-5208PLG is a great choice for increasing the performance and efficiency of your network environments.
The GS-5008PL features 8 IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE+) ports capable of providing up to 30 W of power per port, with a total power budget of 160 W to power any IEEE 802.3at or 802.3af compliant power device. With the PoE device detection feature, the GS-5208PLG can verify if the connected device is compliant with IEEE 802.3at or 802.3af standard. In case no PoE device is detected, only network data will be transmitted through the LAN cable. The GS-5208PLG can be used with various PoE products, such as access points, network cameras or VoIP devices, and is an effective solution for network environments with difficult access to power outlets.
Power over Ethernet technology allows the Ethernet cable to transmit both data and power, eliminating the need for extension cords or electrical outlets on walls or ceilings. Overall, the GS-5208PLG helps lower installation costs and simplify the deployment effort.
The GS-5208PLG features a "power-budget" user interface that allows IT managers to monitor the power consumption of each PoE port and the overall power consumption of connected PoE devices. Monitor the entire PoE network and evaluate total power usage before adding new PoE devices to the network architecture. The power-budget user interface also features a remote power on/off feature for each PoE port, so manual connect/disconnect is not necessary when connecting a PoE device. Simply use the remote power button to quickly reset the device.
The GS-5208PLG features intelligent network monitoring tools that enable greater network efficiency. Security and management features include bandwidth and VLAN (VLAN IEEE 802.1Q) control. Through its web-based interface, an administrator can configure VLANs to separate traffic and configure link aggregation settings to create large traffic flows. In addition, these features provide additional network edge protection and remote access to the password-protected configuration interface.
